SHAMSHIR is a Human Rights Campaign initially based in Adelaide, South Australia from 2009, and spreading it wings since then. As a multi-faceted group that has and will continue to strive to work for diverse social causes in one way or the other.
SHAMSHIR, nationally and internationally, till date has stood up for causes like- Family and Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse and Assault against Women and Children.
SHAMSHIR’s initiatives such as The Dark Campaign, Mini Me Project for kids, WOW – Women of Wondrous Worth, Open Shutters and Sending Out Strength are aimed to reflect on the damage(s) that these social evils have on not only women but men, children, families and communities as a whole.
In addition, Team SHAMSHIR has successfully voiced for ‘Gender Equality’ by connecting young girls and women to sports such as Cricket through SACA (South Australian Cricket Association) and Footy via SANFL (South Australian National Football League).
At the Shamshir Foundation, we believe in creating a more inclusive world—one where every individual, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to pursue their passions and talents. With that vision in mind, we proudly launched “Spark Our Sport“, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness, support, and funds for blind cricket in Australia and beyond.
Spark Our Sport is more than just a campaign—it’s a movement. Through this program, we aim to spotlight the incredible talent and determination of visually impaired cricketers, break down barriers to participation, and provide the resources necessary for these athletes to thrive. From hosting community events and awareness drives to collaborating with local sports clubs and schools, every step we take is designed to foster inclusivity, encourage participation, and build visibility for blind cricket.
All our materials, stories, and media coverage from the initiative are available online, showcasing the heartwarming support we’ve received and the powerful stories of the players who inspire us every day.
Whether you’re a cricket lover, an advocate for accessibility, or simply someone who believes in equality through sport, Spark Our Sport welcomes your support. Together, we can create a level playing field—where ability, not disability, shines the brightest.
